Technology destroys spiritual life because it persistently fails to answer the question, "What solutions are created by the existence of these problems?" It instead imagines a teleology of problem solving without externalities. Spirituality is externality.
Technocracy supposes technological solutions to every problem. But without non-technocrats to identify those problems, all that happens is runaway escalation of technology for its own sake. Who would make an art of refining the production of art supplies that will never be used?

A "dirty" solution with better functionality is often better than a clean solution. Spirituality is the rich black soil of the human soul. It is not meant to be tidied.
