There is no good test, but some are just good with people. Similar to IQ and g-factor, but IQ test would suck even more.

Social dynamics have no external substance center of gravity, they're just a result of risk aversion and homogeneity. You can fake social skills just by being paranoid and sycophantic enough.

Ya, I think the main takeaway here is that at a relatively low point, being well socialized and likeable is more important than intelligence. Whether it's "EQ" or something else is really just semantics.
