also it neglects the really interesting thing about BCI which is that they hold the promise of constructing a whole part of your brain in the sky (which we already do at low fidelity) and making us arbitrarily smarter / more distributed.

this development would vastly increase our human agency while zero (justifiably) fears that borgification / bugman ification due to advancements in telecom would be decreasing it imo the former wins

I don't care to address conservative paranoia about transhumanism. I want them to opt out of the future because I don't want to share the future with them, so collective suicide is a very good default outcome to have evolved.
