Yeah I mean, in the end hallucinations are just thoughts a person has that they're confused about the origin of. They can be analyzed like other thoughts to a certain degree as a result. But inculcating delusion still strikes me as wrong.

We probably do it anyway whether we mean to or not. If you don't teach people about angels, they will just see ghosts or aliens or whatever. You just also need to teach people a theory of the subconscious. Maybe that has it's own pitfalls, though?

From experience, if you're ontologically confused about the origin of voices all explanations become additive and interchangable, so none really reduces the possibility space.
