I think the way most hardcore homeless people survive is by a combination of theft, couchsurfing with scummy people (often in exchange for sexual favors), private charity, and jail stints. I don't really know because I was almost always in shelters since I wasn't on drugs/stupid

glad to hear your insights. I may have a rosy view of how well American welfare works. Seems like administrative issues more than simply not giving enough $$$

American welfare system is a massive handout to midwits with useless degrees. So little of the money gets to people who need it, with so many limitations. I got denied for SSDI because I recited numbers backwards too fast/accurately, a literal IQ test, but without reference point
