Only if you want that society to contain certain neurotypes. You could also build a functional non religious society just by killing all the neurotypicals

Not sure if trolling - that was too perfect a setup. But it brings up an interesting point. Atheist societies don’t even know what to value. Mass murder is fine if the society is “functional,” by some weird clinical definition. A distinct lack of humanity and joy.
