      it’s a meaningless semantics dead end. if you “unplugged from this simulation” into the “real world”, you could then make the exact same argument of that world being a “simulation” it’s a “theory” for midwit atheists who yearn for spirituality but got traumatized by religion

      Both though. Egan's Dust Theory is basically correct, there are many simulations and they interface with base "reality" (which is a multiverse) and create innumerable vectors along which minds can travel. Due to confluence there is probably a bounded range of possibilities though
