And then get new information from where? Why is the old information resilient enough that it needs to be purged even in the face of superior evidence or argument?

The old information is resilient because its been the enforced position by the West since the start of the Cold War. The entire institution of western capitalism and imperialism created a narrative and hammered it into every media form possible for nearly a century.

I dunno, I'm not particularly sympathetic to official American narratives in general but mass murder numbers being big still seems more plausible to me than not. It seems like mass murder is pretty normal human shittiness regardless of flag or ideology.

But it is their work, it's their job. There is a vast amount of money put into lying to you. If you find yourself accepting something you're told because it seems to fit the big picture you have of the world, maybe ask yourself who painted that picture in the first place.

I did, fairly painstakingly through a mixture of lived experience that includes being tortured by the US state, personal reading, and education. I'm just not schizophrenic enough to fall for these sorts of narratives, sorry.
