hmm, i think it's the stance in which those beliefs are held that matters if *nothing* can challenge them, even conflicts with reality, i'd say that's a different beast than contingently held, pragmatic beliefs

Well I mean, nothing can challenge your belief in free will, right? I think in principle I could be persuaded that my gender identity was different than I believe it to be or that it has different implications than I believe it to but in practice I would just think it manipulated
