it strikes me that when people say "the human race is inherently evil and bad" but don't consider themselves evil or bad, they have decided in the moment that they are something above a human being

Humans are mostly compelled to strive to do good but in an environment that is itself malign, that causes all their scheming towards the good to collapse in on itself and reward them with evil, to destroy them and each other. It's not human nature that's the problem, it's physics
