Nah, self is implicit both linguistically and ontologically even in its denial imho. When people say things like "the self is an illusion" it reflexively generates/proves a subject which can be deluded. But then I'm probably talking about something different than others are also.

The actual experience of "selflessness" or "ego death" is so violent and alien that it couldn't possibly be what any philosopher is talking about. Probably not even what most psychonauts are talking about.

feels perfectly natural to me but I've been dabbling in egolessness since I was 4 years old wouldn't like to know what it's like to first experience it later after one has formed expectations
