For instance: 1. This school is prestigious and we must work to uphold that standard 2. Wait, this school is prestigious 3. This school is prestigious and we therefore whatever we do reflects that standard

OH! Thanks, yeah definitely, so when the arbitrary target is already attained, it becomes the measuring stick itself. I was thinking on a dif time scale. So, popular media, bc it attained success, its elements are regarded as inherently good/desirable/superior to unpopular media?
