Though I'm not sure Friedman ever wrote on R2R, he was definitely skeptical of copyright--or at least he didn't give it the romantic treatment actual property rights get.
I remember reading in Friedman and other laissez faire writings how one of the worst things about the Soviet Union was that the state had official repair monopoly on everything and so you had to go to the underground black market to get anything repaired, with all the risks. *snort* Didn't spend time in the USSR, but I was in post-Soviet Czech for years and one of the things that gobsmacked us Yanks was that everybody knew how to fix their Škoda. Doctor, farmer, drunk, didn't matter. Which was great when ours broke down
