the reason is because too much resources are committed to the current make-real estate-artificially scarce + asset inflation-via-money printing: not just the extremely wealthy (who could divest, and lose up to 90% their wealth in the process!), but most the rest middle class...

who've committed years if not decades investing their money in their homes, and who are now *depending* on their home to appreciate in value - a shift in regime would wipe out perhaps >50% middle class wealth! this is a doomsday scenario, uber-Weimar world war kind of destruction
