I haven’t seen any media outlet turn a serious lens to the fact that cutbacks in policing will cause wealthy towns and neighborhoods to invest in private security forces — a potentially bigger problem IMO. I’m still waiting for this perspective.
How is it bigger? Private security would be more accountable and have fewer conflicting interests.
It’ll only be accountable to the people who pay for it. And potentially will only protect them, not others.
Which is at least honest and legible.
