What the fuck is Mars going to do but perpetuate all the fundamental problems with the human race?

the fundamental problems human face are ignorance and conflict not sure how mind uploading solves either of these

1. All known forms of ignorance can be trivially resolved 2. Post scarcity economics reduces the need for conflict substantially

1. “all known forms of ignorance” you must see the problem there 2. only recognized conflict- in fact, *forced* mind uploading is just another form of “peace through totalitarianism” killing everyone would be even more effective, if “reducing conflict” is your only telos

A problem that's intrinsic to every alternative is not an argument against any one system. What system can recognize unknown forms of ignorance? What system can recognize unrecognized conflict? This is silly.

Why is science incompatible with uploaded minds?

going to mars doesn’t conflict with science either, but it’s not an answer to fundamental problems uploading minds/colonizing mars just doesn’t solve either of those conflicts, they are solutions to narrow problem-descriptions

further, it doesn’t actually seem all that trivial to “solve” “known ignorance” if you look at the world, people disagree on what ignorance even *is*

Yes, but the fact that 98% of human beings are insane doesn't change the fact that 2% are broadly correct and in agreement.

All this proves is that asking permission or trying to resolve the problem through existing politics is likely to result in something evil. I already know that.

sure, politics don’t contain new solutions (they are how we select whose solution/problem-description we use), but “forced mind uploading” (however force is deployed) is literally a political solution

I took an oath to save everybody. They can kill themselves afterward if they really want to, I don't care.
