Sure it does. Just like anything encrypted stops being encrypted when you lose the key. It's just garbage data at that point.

For encrypted data the aim is retrieving a legible message, for religious messaging the way Chaos is talking about it the aim is to induce patterns of behaviour and thought which reflect the actual content of such a message regardless of whether it is legible or not, imo
