They stole Nietzsche. Schmitt was less of philosopher per se than a political theorist, (of course Heidegger was a grifter hack who never did an ounce of anything approaching substantive philosophy), but Heidegger is definitely the closest to the fascist project as philosophy.

I read Heidegger but couldn't understand him at all. Then I read Sartre and he made sense. People then tell me that Sartre is just ripping off Heidegger, but they also tell me I can't use Sartre to understand Heidegger, so I couldn't have anything to do with Heidegger if I wanted
