Really think the only advantage all these dead fucks have is that they were schelling points around which tons of nerds swarmed to steel man the original arguments and now if you don't admit this "context" as reflecting on the original arguments themselves you're human trash.
A lot of my conversations with actual philosophers seem to get hung up on the fact that I'm not following the dictates of someone to the letter, as if agreeing with a few premises commits a person to an entire system necessarily or else they're inconsistent.
