"It's a metaphor!" No. It may be mostly a metaphor, but there's some element of this that Yud and co are taking literally or else they wouldn't talk or act in the way they do.

If the brain literally encoded meaningful truths differently from falsities or absurdities we could just make people believe an exhaustive list of things, then take detailed images of every brain and recover all truths without the aid of any other science.
