I'm mostly thinking of the phenomenon of crowds shouting out agreement by cheering or booing people, and its equivalent on social media, where for instance someone will drop a one word reply and 100+ people will upvote it without any argument ever being presented.
There's something inherently disreputable about arguing by agreement with other arguments rather than words.
