Any sort of social activism grounded in Marxism or other conventional activist frameworks is thus either unethical or dishonest when maximized (ie, either they believe self-interest of other parties constrains their actions to only an ethical set of possibilities or they don't).
It's understandable to be self-interested when you believe you're playing a game where converse instances of self-interest yield an optimum (if perhaps still less than ideal) outcome. It's horrendous to be self-interested when you don't believe this. You can't call this ethical
