Mostly I am just meditating on how the rationalizations of class disparity have gone from beautiful religious justifications to incoherent screeching. I don't think it's because they needed stronger justifications in the past, I think it's because people in the present are worse
Caste systems are cruel because they approximate moral hierarchy without optimizing for it. Class systems are cruel because they create hierarchy without a moral element: a caste system is a boot on the face forever, but economic class systems are regressive without a fixed floor
