I get angry when people won't talk to crazy people even when they're making sense because this is bad differential reinforcement. You're supposed to talk to them when they make sense! They won't get better otherwise!

Schizophrenic gibberish is very obviously a sort of self-stimulating behavior. This probably happens because the brain gets rewired in such a way that it perceives rewards from "speaking" non-language. This means in principle it can be fixed through behavioral reinforcement.
