True, but music is like infinite checkers, while literature is like infinite chess. My opinion anyway. I don't think music is bad, I just think it's much less complex and ultimately offers fewer opportunities for expression. Music may even be ergodic within its normal limits.

Comparing the degree and variety of (compelling) experimentation and iteration in literature vs music during the twentieth century gives me the opposite impression tbh. But could be anecdotal in the sense that it's just a particularly vibrant period for music
