I always loved tech, I just thought its unchecked power should be even less checked/that it shouldn't collude with state surveillance but should instead do surveillance and enforce its own sovereign will.

No one writes documentation on the inside now either, for what it’s worth: it’s all “self documenting code”. Which is mostly bullshit unless you have people who really follow things like pep8 and pep257 (for two Python-specific examples).

my organization absolutely will not allow a new non-test method to pass code review without a well-formed docblock half the time they won't even let an old non-test method that didn't have a well-formed docblock be modified without adding one
