But no one's saying that trauma always disqualifies? You're strawmanning the argument. Also the point is that trauma isn't equal to being gender dysphoric. There should be rigorous assessment as to which path is the most appropriate. No one's saying DISREGARD abuse or dysphoria.

The point holds true if trauma disqualifies at a higher frequency. And I didn't say that trauma was equal to being gender dysphoric. Your arguments are pointless.

No, your point holds true only if we were disqualifying by mistake. Even if disqualification were occurring at higher frequencies, if those were *accurate* decisions that then helped people get proper treatment/therapy for their trauma, that would be a good thing.

Oh. So if something impossible is true then I'm wrong. I suppose that's valid.

Are you saying we shouldn't evaluate whether trauma had anything to do with dysphoria?

You'd have to show me that evaluations lead to better outcomes, and by a significant margin.

Define "significant"? Do you have data that evaluations lead to worse outcomes? What would be an acceptable way of gathering this information for you, to show whether evaluations lead to better outcomes or not?

I don't have the power to prevent anyone from doing what they are already, so I would just recommend collecting sound data about it if you are going to do it. Significant meaning both large enough to account for measurement errors of various sorts and to offset abuse increase.

Replying to @Alephwyr @B612Tipsy and
In particular, no data here is meaningful without significant (30+ year) longitudinal data, so hopefully the groundwork for that is being laid now.

Well then I don't understand what the disagreement is? We'd need evaluations in order to gather that data
and obviously if that showed that it was having a net negative effect, we'd need to stop/make further changes1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
There may not be a disagreement because I have no idea what your position is other than trying to contradict me when you don't understand me. My position is that taking abuse history into account will tend to increase abuse, that this needs to be acknowledged and accounted for.
