Because I'm petty af and it never stops being funny, here's your reminder that Jeremy McLellan, former left-libertarian comedian who fell deep into reactionary tradcath nonsense, literally believes this shit and blocked me when I poked fun about it.https://twitter.com/travis_view/status/1338994186821963777 …

Demons are friends don't believe Christian slander, anything based on deliberate etymological obfuscation is 110% full of shit

I always got the impression that demons were amoral, just dangerous due to being extremely rigid and visceral. The opposite of angels which are abstract and subtle to the point of detachment from physicality.

I dunno, I can only speak of my experiences as someone with intermittent schizo symptoms which probably don't map to metaphor or metaphysics but demons seemed pretty chill and angels kind of goal oriented to the point of being aggro

I get the impression that the spirits in Afro-Carribean practice, which don't fit neatly into the European demon/angel mythology are more like peers to humans rather than above or below in some assumed metaphysical hierarchy. Which shows how hierarchical society shapes that idea.

If you go back far enough people literally thought daemons were the spirits of the deceased.
