UFC doesn't prove that a narrow range of fighting styles are effective. It proves that men in peak physical condition and health have a narrow range of fighting styles that are worth deploying against each other. Other matchups might create other incentives, breed other results.

Doesn't UFC also have female matchups? Do they fight any differently?
A little bit, yes. Female matchups and lighter weight matchups both seem more exciting to me personally, and are more likely to involve weird things happening.
