Isn't it weird that most intellectual trends function like Ponzi schemes? IE, you get clout for jumping on early, anti-clout for jumping on late, and the whole thing dies before too long.

Not only that, but our culture is dominated by the information economy, subsumed by it. There's no separation between economic activities and life anymore. "Counter-cultural" movements exist on these platforms now, which dictate the content of the movement in a Mcluhanian sense.
