People who think fitness is higher truth don't realize: 1. It's part of fitness to attempt to destroy competing fitness. This happens in practice whether it ultimately ascends or not. 2. Truth is meant to be transmitted unilaterally, fitness to be kept as competitive advantage
If truth is acquired by a process akin to evolution but requires competing organisms/strategies etc as hosts, then truth is somewhat parasitic: It doesn't want to kill the host, but to grow to its fullest potential it requires as many different types of host as possible.

There is a sense in which truth has its own utility function that is at least sometimes at odds with the interests and therefore the fitness and strategies and so forth of the species it uses as a host. This goes a long way to explaining human thought and behavior.
