Actually it's good if fascists don't have reliably encrypted comms.
Consciousness should be encrypted and the constructs to which it is subjected should be encoded as transactions which are placed on a blockchain. That way nobody can copy, view, move, or edit a conscious entity without consent but also can tell whether it's being tortured etc.

In the future there's probably some version of Van Eck phreaking which allows you to derive the patterns of consciousness of a person from the electrical impulses on their scalp or something so going full synthetic is the only way to be ethically safe.
