if transitioning is advocated by the claim it will conform someone's self-image with a dysphoria, then it follows transitioning is strategic and that not all people who experience dysphoria should transition if it will not otherwise alleviate that particular problem

trying and failing to actually live in the ideal body you imagine you should possess (e.g. an attractive female form) is a psychological setback on its own in addition to dysphoria, and the failure to attain that form may exacerbate the condition

we must be frank and admit that if transitioning only causes you to look like a repulsive freak, then of course you're going to remain in a psychologically miserable place because we have an innate disgust to ugliness for good reasons consider your options strategically

this isn't to deny the reality or struggle of dysphoria, but only to point that just because you have a problem doesn't mean nature will provide a solution for you it is unfair but no one can change it

Estrogen has psychological benefits for real MtFs also, but whether they are cancelled out by failed social transition or not is hard to say
