We should care, because if QM is wrong, the internet doesn't work and we're not talking right now because our computers don't work. Either physics is generally correct, or you're a figment of my imagination. No, this isn't the same as Einstein's revision of Newton's gravity.
You can't predict the implications of a successful successor theory except to say that by nature it explains the same phenomenon. You can't even say that it won't completely repartition the interpretation of those phenomenon. After all, all theories are embedded in consciousness.
