Nothing in Sci Fi is ever original so it wouldn't surprise me if it was, or if the first appearance of the idea was in Medieval Italy or whatever else.

Funnily i think it's actually the copyright thing rather than the cryonic revivification thing that would've been unimaginable in medieval italy, copyright law wasn't invented till Gutenberg made copying cheap enough to need regulation
