Having talked to people in any field I've ever been a part of long enough to learn what I'm doing I'm not sure how that's controversial.
One of the most glaring implications of IQ, and one of the most hated and fought against, is that there are solid portions of people who have spent their entire lives in any given hobby/field/etc who don't know anything about it.
