I kept very detailed records of my own psychosis, that doesn't make them meaningful or valuable. And Catholics believe any spirit that didn't explicitly declare for God at the dawn of the universe is a demon. I just don't buy it.

It may have had a point but the point was probably more political than sincere. That's my default position on almost everything. Hermeticism is neat. A lot of things are neat. I would need a lot more than the word of probable liars to go off of.

You could say the execution of Socrates was pointless too when they could have just extorted him. People do lots of pointless things, or things with esoteric points encoded in their genes somewhere that they themselves can't justify.

There's humanity as a machine or ecosystem and there's humanity as an ideal and Socrates served the latter. This is why collectivism is always Straussian: it treats some classes of people as cogs, as means to an end. Maybe they are. Fuck them then. But let the truth stand.
