The universe is a living body. It is a steam engine. A machine. The universe is a formal system. The universe is an image, a hologram. A computer. Briefly a blockchain. Oh the silly things we used to think before we figured out it is a neural network.
What if we've been right each time. What if ontology is subordinate to perception?

Even if it is, there is something to transcend here. We can cultivate subtler abstractions. The the "church", of course, likes simple-minded abstractions, and likes when we confuse them with reality, so that working on its civilizational project seems like the only thing to do.
