If money truly represented wealth instead of a mixture of wealth and leverage then presumably the United States would have taught its children non useless things during its economic ascendancy instead of teaching them pretty nonsense and importing smart desperate people.
You don't rest on your laurels unless you're not competing, and the only reasons to not compete are to give up, or because you think you're so far ahead competition is unnecessary
