The majority of the US are reactionary shitheads who prioritize "order" and personal privilege over freedom. Thus there's a fair chance that widespread hatred for protesters physically resisting the police state will cause Trump to win the election. But there's no other choice.

I spent a chunk of my childhood in the projects. There's a lot of situations where you are just going to get jumped and beaten. You have a choice: go passive and wait for them to end or resist, piss them off, and get beaten worse for it. The latter is often the better strategy.

I often feel like a lot of liberals have just never really been in a fight. At least not in a space where fighting is brutal and regular. Resisting oppression provokes escalating oppression. But in the *long run* it's the superior strategy.

If I were about to get in a fight, I would simply politely decline

I would simply vote for my representative to make beating the shit out of me illegal

Somehow I never got in a fight after getting a CCW even in cases of aggression or antagonism. I think most fights are avoidable and aim to make 100% of the unavoidable fights lethal.

If someone attacks me out of the blue and I can't de escalate it's pretty much 100% a hate crime and at that point it's not just my safety but the safety of my community.

Never mind hate crime, de-escalation is the cowards way out which threatens the community.

I think the converse of it being easy to de escalate is probably that it's easy to escalate too. I'm not prepared to have blood on my hands that I could avoid. In theory, maybe there justification for stress testing to the limit you think other, less chill community members might

But in practice I think discretion is the better part of valor here. Live to fight another day. Pick your battles.
