Save me from people who read a book or two and now have strong opinions on what can just be done "in collective meetings" or "like with an app" who have no real experience in either organizing or computer science.

Just make it expensive. Insist they hire a professional to run the meetings using their own budget. Have them try to commission an app with their own money. A fool and his money are soon parted. Market solutions win again.
