      Diversity ruins heuristics. A strong handshake. Looking people in the eye. Not using the wrong words. People don't want to hire the best, the want to hire people who signal strength and health according to in-group signals.

      Right. Human with broken social skills is like gnat with broken swarming skills. Doesn't matter how much smarter it is or whatever, it's still maladapted. Humans are swarm animals.

      Most software engineers are not artisans; they are retainers. Yet the justification for the existence of the tech company is the notion of it being a company of artisans. The last thing you want is a genuine artisan dispelling this illusion.
