It's just surreal that anyone, let alone a large group of people, thinks that chasing someone down en masse isn't threatening. I get threatened by people when they get closer than 2.5-3 arms lengths to me unannounced. I don't even understand what they were hoping to accomplish.
I mean, allegedly the guy was assaulting women, but it still seems like it could have been handled better, more strategically somehow.
I do also understand that when a mob of people versus one person is liable to toggling into unthinking massacre mode, that's why fake retreats work, and why they need discipline, which you're probably not going to get from a relatively impromptu gathering.
