I get it now: Excess ideology is a sign that a person needs excess ideology to commit to something, eg that it's not their normal, default state. In a society that requires/"rewards" natural slaves, even someone whose ideology extols the virtues of slavery is defective property.
Pseudo-ideology. Real ideologies, the kind that are logically consistent and require thought, accomplish the opposite aim. There's a difference between memorizing dumb slogans like "If you don't like it, you can leave" and reading thousands of pages of books in search of truth.

Truth is orthogonal to ideology.

The truths most people can agree on are: - the physical state of nature - money - bureaucratic titles or "names" Ideology tends to deal with questions of the legitimacy of these things (to what extent Heaven approves or disapproves).
