The issue with aesthetics as primary virtue is established by several facts: 1 That we live in a statistical universe 2 Achieving aesthetic unity requires winning an arbitrary number of consecutive iterations of a negative expectancy game, and 3 That this is subsidized by others

In order to get the holistic unity that makes something aesthetically apparent in our otherwise vacuous, amorphous universe, you have to get lucky. This costs something. Other people pay the cost. The sandcastle still collapses, just after burning massive piles of utility

Markets are almost fundamentally unaesthetic, not because they preclude sequential appearances and thus aesthetic possibility in vacuo, but because they create too many competing aesthetics. There's enough temporal aesthetic unity under markets but not so spacial aesthetic unity.

The problem with markets is they create too many winners for winning to stand out as the appearance of order over chaos. Winning simply becomes a perpetuation of chaos. The interdependence of markets further creates garish violations of the aesthetic.

Fundamentally, all aesthetics are enabled by and derived from violence and coercion, simply because they require the levelling down of background noise as much as they require the sequential and spatial unity of appearances.

This is why the fascist requires, not victory, but eternal war. Fascists don't actually want universal order, they want an engine that converts the blood of the enemy into the order of the homeland and its traditions.

All the left talk about the spiritual destructiveness of capitalism is essentially the same. Capitalism is good, just ugly. But aesthetics are subjective, and the problem is fundamentally that capitalism moves faster than the socio-genetic underpinnings of aesthetic sensibilities

The great nightmare of all the authoritarians is that of the whole human race reduced to "rootless cosmopolitanism", but roots are really just dopamine feedback loops for specific bundles of ritual. Capitalism has rituals but these don't stimulate most people's feedback loops.

Humanity needs to be recompiled until the accidental appearances of modernity produce the same elation that the accidents of the natural world did in the pagans. Only positive eugenics can do this ethically. We can't go back: back has mathematically inferior utility generation
