The issue with aesthetics as primary virtue is established by several facts: 1 That we live in a statistical universe 2 Achieving aesthetic unity requires winning an arbitrary number of consecutive iterations of a negative expectancy game, and 3 That this is subsidized by others
The problem with markets is they create too many winners for winning to stand out as the appearance of order over chaos. Winning simply becomes a perpetuation of chaos. The interdependence of markets further creates garish violations of the aesthetic.

The great nightmare of all the authoritarians is that of the whole human race reduced to "rootless cosmopolitanism", but roots are really just dopamine feedback loops for specific bundles of ritual. Capitalism has rituals but these don't stimulate most people's feedback loops.
