Ayn Rand had a gnostic ontology of being. It's just that she only believed in two categories (hylic and psychic), not three. This was not a deliberate affirmation of the supremacy of thought over spirit so much as it was a confusion of the two brought about by her binary thinking
You can see where she struggles with this confusion in her inclusion of the lesser heroic characters Eddie Willers and Cheryl Brooks, who possess the spiritual qualities Ayn Rand loves but not the intellectual abilities. In the end they both die stupid deaths.
