1) Chomsky is not an anarchist and has always had terrible social democrat takes. 2) Chomsky is a cute grandpa we tolerate. 3) Chomsky is rich and wildly disconnected from struggle, not to mention radical theory. 4) You would be obliged to vote Biden — *if* your vote mattered.

Like there is NO QUESTION that if you had a magic button that with one simple push could determine that Biden instead of Trump becomes president of the empire, it would be heinous to not push it. But voting doesn't work that way. Your vote doesn't matter. It's pure spectacle.

Seems like it would naturally produce a logarithmically decreasing scale of sorts if iterated. Like you never get to pure not-evil, you get big gains in lesser evil at first and then it diminishes because the incremental process is towards moderation rather than the other extreme

The kernel of substance here is that settling for a lesser evil in a binary choice over an n-iterated game creates strong incentive for a race to the bottom. This doesn't however mean the optimum strategy is context-free recalcitrance.

The mystic's option is Vermin Supreme. You might get consequentialists to agree with you, but the world consists of a mostly polarized range of evil pragmatists and deliberately impotent virtue ethicists who spit on their lives and this earth with gnostic severity
