The flow of capital in real economies is mostly defined by coercive leverage, and once it's all flowed to the top that means you've extracted all the value, or are extracting at the peak rate. The best case scenario is "no margin of error", the worst is "dried out husk".

We know that non-human species exhaust their food supply and suffer catastrophic collapse when left to their own devices, the same is true of humans in the economic context of man being a wolf to man.
