There's some existential horror in such things, perhaps, but they solve more problems than they cause, as opposed to the "solutions" to them which cause more problems than they solve

What problems do they solve that can't be solved with having big lands be owned by several people democratically?

I'm not an expert. Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. Commons problems are econ 101. Incentives associated with ownership promote upkeep. Reading Friedman should be sufficient IIRC. It's been a while so I don't even remember what books to recommend.

Friedman hasn't been taken seriously in academia for a long time. His neoliberal ideas, like the minimal state and austerity demonizes vulnerable groups, violently throws them out of their houses, and ultimately lets them die. This is why I tread on it :>

I think you must be affiliated with the part of academia that doesn't read and can't make a study replicate

I mean he's read for the sake of understanding how theories of economy has evolved, but his ideas on their own are largely taught only as a cautionary tale.

"academia that doesn't read" I think you're unaware of academics. The "commons" is such an outdated and disproven idea, calling it econ 101 is misleading. That's like claiming that bloodletting is MD 101.

"two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner" How is that worse than one rich wolf convincing 9 sheep what's for dinner through ads and lobbying? The very sentence implies there's different kinds of humans... But the class is mostly determined by their inherited wealth.
